Virginia, here we come!

We had the chance to vacation with Grandma Debbie and Grandpa at a timeshare condo they won in a raffle. The timing was right - so off we went. 5 hours in the car is about Hannah's limit so I think anything longer we will have to fly. She did really well.

She got to see baby geese and ducks, she rode on her first rides at Busch Gardens (a baby swing ride, a baby log flume and a baby ferris wheel) and visited Jamestown. She also got some more time in a pool. She even gave her parents a scare when she tipped over her boat because she was reaching for a ball. We both lunged at her from both directions and immediately picked her up. She had her life vest on, so her face just got a good dunking. She closed her eyes and held her breath - amazing!Yikes! Now I've got more gray hair.

Hannah's first & second weddings

Two of my coworkers had weddings this spring. Hannah was invited to both and had a wonderful time. She LOVED to dance. We had trouble getting her off the dance floor. It didn't matter if it was a slow or fast song, Hannah was poppin' and lockin' all over the place. We may have to crash some weddings later this summer just so she can get her fix.

Doodlebops

Last month we took Hannah and Cole to see the Doodlebops when they came to Charlotte. I think both are a little young, but they enjoyed it all the same. I apologize that I do not have any pictures of Hannah. At first she wouldn't put her hotdog down, and when she did she just couldn't sit still at all. Two signs that she had a good time. And I guess we are getting old because we felt the music was way too loud. Wouldn't you think a Disney concert would consider the sound levels at their venues? Oh, I guess I am asking for too much. I will just send Eisner the bill for Hannah's hearing aid.

Group 947, here's to you!

What a wonderful year it has been. Even though it has been a year since we were in China, I can easily picture the sights, sounds and smells from China. It is strange, but every now and then something will trigger a distinct memory from that trip. Simply amazing.

I hope that all the girls from our trip are doing well and enjoying this special day. Hannah received her first gift from China, a panda purse. You can see just the tip of it in the picture.

We wish you all well and hope our girls can meet again in the years to come.

Easter Morning

This post is for Grandma Debbie. Grandma Debbie sent the most wonderful Easter basket for Hannah filled with all kinds of goodies. And since Hannah (read Hannah's Mother) is a sucker for necklaces and hairbows. Well, you can see for yourself...
:)

Hannah is on the hunt...

for Easter eggs!
Our church had an easter egg hunt and as you can see from Hannah's outfit, it was pretty cold. Hannah toughed it out and got a pretty decent amount of eggs. It amazed me that she knew exactly what to do... find the eggs and put them in her basket (and what a lovely basket it is - thank you Kittrells). I think Hannah enjoyed counting her eggs as much as finding them. And yes, I couldn't resist pigtails. I think they make her look like a bunny.
:)

She looks so grownup...

What do you think?

Sometimes she just takes my breath away.

Birthday Party

Hannah attended another lovely birthday party this month, for her friend Connor. I guess it tis the season of babies and Hannah was super cute as always. And she rocked the Janie-&-Jack-outfit-that-mommy-paid-way-too-much-money-for-on-ebay. But when she looks this cute, how am I supposed to resist?

I love the fact that Hannah kept her party hat on longer than any other attendant. Way to keep the party going, baby. I also love the fact that Hannah enjoys cake this much. Yes, she is my daughter. I included the last picture because it is representative of how focused she can get and how that little pink tongue appears to be a tool that aids in the concentration.

Why I stink at Chinese New Year and Tiffany rocked it...

Since this year is Hannah's first Chinese New Year with us, I wanted to make a splash. I wanted to celebrate, educate and enjoy our first Chinese New Year. I wanted to make a BIG DEAL. I also wanted do something nice for her class at daycare. But in typical Kim fashion, my grand plans got boiled down to something more realistic. Something I can manage at the last minute. I still made a statement, but it was a small sentence spoken in a very soft voice. I present to you exhibit A:
This cute little box contained a dragon windup toy and the oh-so-stereo-typical chinese fortune cookie. I intentionally kept this mainstream for the daycare, because I did not want to blow their minds with "There are no fortune cookies in China, it's an American thing..." spiel - I wanted to ease them into this new thing. I was moderately proud of myself for this accomplishment - at least I did not forget it all together.

And then I get this in the mail. I present to you exhibit B:
Wow. This beautiful package came with a personalized ladybug outfit, chinese cookies and chocolate coins. Paper lanterns and paint set for decorating the paper lanterns, a card from Audrey, decorations for our door, a bracelet and paper toy. All contained in a dragon gift bag. Oh. My. God. Thank you so much! This was so thoughtful! And now I know I need to step it up next year. Oh forget next year, we are going to rock the Moon Festival... when is it? Not until September, okay I've got time. Wish me luck.

Cole's Birthday Party

Here's is a couple pics from Cole's birthday party. Hannah had a great time - especially in the foam pit. Grandma Debbie, thank you for this outfit!

Hannah, meet Chuck E. Cheese, Chuck E. Cheese meet Hannah

A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to babysit Cole so we decided it was a good time to go to Chuck E. Cheese's for an afternoon of mediocre pizza, nappy puppets, loud children and germ-infested playgyms. Fun.

One year ago today...

We got a glimpse of your bright and shining face for the very first time. We've been smitten ever since. What a wonderful journey it has been so far and we cannot wait to see what you hold in store for us tomorrow... and the next day... and the next. We love you with all of our hearts Hannah, the world is a much brighter place with you in it.
:)

Meet Jack Jack!

We recently adopted a three year old black pug. We call him Jack Jack... we hope you will too. As you can see from the pictures, he gets along very well with Hannah. He has one eye, so sometimes she sneaks up on him and vice versa, but both are fairly good natured about their encounters.
:)

Hannah at the Zoo

Shortly after New Year's we went to the North Carolina Zoo. I didn't get any pictures inside the zoo, so Hannah insisted on being cute while we were leaving. Enjoy!
