Disney Rockin' Road Show

Several weeks ago we took the kids to the "Disney Live! Rockin' Road Show". While Chris and I felt like we have seen the show before... we went to the Disney On Ice show the year before, the kids seemed to be very well entertained.

Besides, ANY show is good if its got Cinderella in it. At least accordingly to Hannah.

My favorite part was when Hannah was jumping up and down on Chris's lap. But I'm sick like that. Hee hee. :-)

Rainbow Bright

I snapped this on my way to work this morning (yes, while I was driving - just be glad you don't live near me). I thought it was a lovely way to start my Friday. Happy Friday!
:-)

Gymnastics Update

I was able to snap this picture this week at class. While I'd love to say that Hannah got up there herself, y'all know the truth.

Happy Easter

First, I must start with an apology.
I left my camera at work this past weekend so I have NO pictures for Easter. I was sick pretty much all last week, so I blame my cold. Chris took a couple of pictures with his phone, so I hope to figure out how to get them off his phone and onto my computer soon. In the meantime, these pictures were taken the weekend before and since they are all Eastery, I figured they could tide you over.

Thank you for your support.

Moonlight Polar Bear Walk

Last weekend, we went to the first Moonlight Polar Bear Walk at the Asheboro Zoo. We liked the idea of having the zoo sort of "to ourselves" and also have the chance to watch a polar bear in action. Usually when we go to the zoo, the polar bear is sleeping. :-(

Mr Polar Bear was really playful and the zookeepers did a very nice job of explaining the polar bears eating habits and preferred toys, etc. (who knew that polar bears love to play with phone books?)

We were not allowed to take flash pictures in the zoo, so we just took a couple of pictures to prove we were there. "-)

I heart Yard Sales

Here is what our yard sale looked like this past Saturday. And YES, we got more than one shopper. Smarty pants.

Happy 1st Birthday Ayden!

This past Saturday we were able to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and celebrate Ayden's first birthday.

I was really glad to see that Ayden was having a really good day and enjoyed all the hugs and kisses and presents he received on his birthday. I think his family's only complaint was that Ayden was simply too excited to take a nap.

That's Ayden's big brother, Greyson. I don't think he sat still for very long the entire day. This is the only picture I got of him that wasn't a blur. :-)

They're playing Baaa..skit...bbbbaaaalllllllll.

Last Friday night, we took Hannah to a basketball game. Apparently she was so excited all day long that she told everyone who would sit still long enough that she was going to a basketball game that night - when I picked her up all the kids gathered around and asked me questions about the game.

She watched about seven seconds of the game and then promptly found a captive audience in two young girls and proceeded to talk their ears off and boss them around until it was time to go. What a chatty cathy! I wonder how long we can hold off before we have to get her a phone. Hmmm.

Lars and the Real Girl

We watched this movie this weekend and really liked it. I found it very enduring and sweet. The subject matter could have easily been made to be icky and offensive, but instead it was handled extremely well. I highly recommend this movie.

Word Up, it's Word Girl.

Have I have mentioned before that Hannah LOVES Word Girl? Word Girl is a show that airs on PBS and it is awesome. It's a really well-written show and I love the sense of humor AND Hannah gets to learn new words to boot.

Last night at dinner, Hannah dropped a new word on us... "Crestfallen". She even knows what it means. Although we asked her to use it in a sentence and she said "What is a sentence?" Hmmm. Well, we were hoping she would not surpass us intelligence-wise until at least the first grade. Sigh.

Thank you Sandra Bullock.

I have been a fan of Sandra Bullock for a long time and was thrilled to learn this morning that she won Best Actress for her role in "The Blind Side". While I have not seen the film (it is going on the Netflix queue today), I was touched by something she said in her acceptance speech.

"...so I would like to thank what this film is about for me which are the moms that take care of the babies and the children no matter where they come from. Those moms and parents never get thanked."

Now I like her even more. Thank you Sandra Bullock.

Strolling through the park one day...

We decided pretty late in the day last Saturday to take Hannah and Cole to the park. I think we finally had to simply get out of the house (the weather has been either cold and rainy or snowy the last few Saturdays). Still the weather was on the chilly side, but the sun was shining and that's all we needed. It was nice and quiet since we had most of the park to ourselves. We had a very nice time feeding the ducks and geese, walking around the pond and playing on the playground. A lovely simple retreat. :-)

Thank you Aunt Jackie!

Thank you Aunt Jackie for the wonderful Valentine cookie decorating kit! Cole and Hannah had a great time decorating their cookies and more importantly eating them. They had such a sugar buzz by the time they were done, that we had to take them to the park and let them run it out (another post on that to come). :-)

Happy Chinese New Year!

Whew! What a whirlwind! This year's Chinese New Year's party was a blast! I don't think I've ever seen a group of kids rip through anything as fast as they ripped through our house.

First they ripped through the buffet (which was awesome and yummy - Thanks to Miss Nancy, My Mom, Melissa & Aaron and Susan!)

They they ripped through the craft table. We added stripes to tigers, colored Chinese zodiac charts and rubbed dragons to reveal awesome colors (thanks Melissa & Aaron!)

Then they ripped through Hannah's playroom. This picture was just the first time they destroyed the playroom. The children came back for round two after they went outside.

And finally they ripped through the playground. I don't think I've seen so many kids on the playhouse. It was awesome!

It was wonderful to have our house filled with so many smiling faces and laughter. Thank you everyone for coming and I hope you had as much as I did this year!
:-)
