Happy 5th Birthday Cole!

I apologize for the delay in this post but having back-to-back parties at our house is not conducive to getting much else done around here. The good news is that both parties were a success and I did manage to take a few pictures to prove it.
I ordered a cupcake-cake for Cole's birthday party from my awesome cake lady, Christy. She is a small business owner and she did such a great job on Hannah's castle cake. I knew Cole wanted a Transformer-rific birthday party, but I was concerned about translating Transformers (or specifically Optimus Prime - Cole's favorite Transformer) onto the cake. I was pleasantly surprised with the result. Not bad huh?

Two words of caution if you ever plan on doing a bubblewrap walk at your next birthday party. 1) Do not let the birthday boy go first 2) Make sure that the children's shoes have some texture to them - otherwise the flatness of their shoes will evenly distribute their body weight and NOT POP A SINGLE BUBBLE. - Just a tip from your Aunt Kimmie.

Cole got a bike for his birthday - but his favorite presents by far were all of the cool Transformers toys that he received from friends and family.

Thank you Grandma Debbie!

Cole and Hannah both got "Design Your Own Plates" for Christmas from Grandma Debbie and since we were snowed in last weekend I figured it would be a good idea to work on them.

I told them that they could draw anything they wanted, and it was interesting to see what they came up with. Lately, they have been asking to see the box to see how the children pictured on the box play with the toy, and this project was no exception. On the box a picture of a house was the example.

Hannah started by drawing the grass and sun, but she struggled when she got to the house. She wasn't happy with how the door turned out to her pink house, so she changed it into a giant pink cat. She also drew a smaller black cat and gave them a large cage to live in.

Cole also drew a house and grass, but then he added fire to his house. The fire truck is on the right side, coming to the rescue.

Also note, that Chris decided to add rainbows to each of the plates, you know, just to liven things up.

Snowy Saturday

Last weekend we finally had a decent snowstorm to drop enough inches of snow for Hannah and Cole to play in. And luckily it happened on a Saturday, so we didn't have to juggle work, daycare, etc.

Hannah did not want to make snow angels with Cole or throw snow balls with Cole, so Hannah's time in the snow was limited to running around and shoveling snow in the air.

Run Hannah, Cole is behind you with a snow ball!
