A Tribute to the Statue of Liberty

Hopefully you are all aware by now of Hannah's mini-crush on the Statue of Liberty. We're not entirely sure where this started, but we think it was with this hotel:

This is the New York New York Hotel in Las Vegas. We drove past it when we were visiting my Dad in Las Vegas last year. Keep in mind, we drove PAST it. We didn't stay there nor did we point her out when we did drive past. This kid does not miss A THING.

Since that visit Hannah has started posing like the Statue of Liberty. At first we were not sure what she was doing and then later we totally fed into it with cheers of "Do the Statue of Liberty!". This photo above is the first one I remember seeing...

and then she did it again...

and again...

and again.
Flash forward to this year's Thanksgiving in New Jersey. We figured that while we were up in the tri-state area, we would be remiss if we did not visit the giant green lady.

Unfortunately, the weather was not completely in our favor, but that did not keep us from the Statue of Liberty. This is Hannah's first glimpse of her. Hannah kept saying throughout our visit "Mommy, she's so BIG!".

And of course I dragged Hannah's crown from her Halloween costume for her to wear on that day. Who do you think you are dealing with here?!

Despite the weather, we had a really nice visit to the Statue of Liberty. I even learned a couple of things. Did you know why she has seven spikes in her crown? It represents the seven continents and the seven seas. Also did you know that the Statue of Liberty closely resembles the artist's mother? (He openly admitted it in interviews.)

See - you learn something new every day!
:-)
